Projects that change lives
Advancing veterinary education and clinical research to deliver the breakthroughs animals rely on.
When we know more, they hurt less.

At the Langford Trust, we believe that improving animal lives begins with knowledge, evidence, and better clinical practice. That’s why our focus is on funding research-led animal health and welfare studies that not only help animals live well but also support the veterinary community.
Through our funding, we support a diverse range of clinical research projects, bringing together expert clinicians at Bristol Veterinary School and Langford Vets to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and care of animals.
Building skills and expertise
We support students and researchers to develop essential clinical skills and scientific understanding—helping to train the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Clinical research projects
Clinical research at Bristol Veterinary School brings together expert veterinary clinicians and biomedical scientists to improve the diagnosis and treatment of disease in animals. Working in modern clinical and imaging facilities, specialists study real patients, translating scientific discoveries into better care where it matters most. Through a One Health approach, this work also contributes to advances in human health.
The Trust funds vital projects at Langford, uniting specialist researchers from both the Veterinary School and Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital to deliver meaningful progress in animal health and welfare.
Advancing knowledge and care
We fund clinical research that generates new knowledge, enabling veterinarians to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness more effectively. Our projects span companion animal, equine, farm animal, and wildlife health, ensuring broad and lasting impact across the veterinary field.

Companion animal projects
Our companion animal projects support innovative care, research and facilities that enhance the health and wellbeing of pets and the people who love them.

Farm animal projects
Our farm animal projects advance welfare, health and sustainable practices through research and education that support animals, farmers and the wider food system.

Equine projects
Our equine projects promote the health and welfare of horses through specialised research and advanced clinical care.

Wildlife projects
Our wildlife projects protect vulnerable species through research, rehabilitation and conservation efforts that safeguard animals and the ecosystems they depend on.
